Our lounge once had an archway into the kitchen which the previous owners had sealed up using plywood with polystyrene on top! fantastic! Now we want to paint the room, how can we smooth overthe plywood surface? Do we need to seal it and use some lining paper or is there a magic product out there (please!) that can be used to smooth over the plywood and paint on top! help!

A magic sledgehammer? Or, there's always Artex.
Ooooh, how about that wallpaper that really looks like feature brickwork?

Thanks for those helpful hints Janetex - already got loads of artex in the house - again previous owners, so think we'll give it a miss. Might try waving a magic wand!
My husband just said that you can use a water based paint, but not oil based, and polyfill products if the polystyrene is imperfect. Hope I gave you a laugh at least.
