How can I get rid of some horrid sticky residue from an airline label which is stuck to my new plastic see-thru brolly, without melting the plastic. I've tried nail varnish remover but that doesn't seem to work.
that shouldn't harm the plastic. I heard on How Clean Is Your House that mayonnaise works too (contains vinegar).
There are label removal formulas but I know from experience that they can react to plastic and dull the surface so I'd stay clear of these.
Hairspray can contain laquers - try removing them!
But you can get bottles of 'Sticky Stuff Remover" that does it using citrus oils and is wonderful stuff. Available from Lakeland Limited, and on 13th Aug. Aldi will be selling their own version.
Thaks everyone - have tried to warm vinegar, but the kit roll stuck to the gumf. Can't buy Sticky stuff remoer over here, but I will go and ask in the shop for something similar.
Robina I'l have you know that I've been after one of these brollies since 1971 when I did a flit from England and left my one. They are brilliant for seeing where you are going, provided there's no sticky stuff on it, and for not poking out others' eyes.
Job done, with many thanks to you all, especially to heathfield who mentioned citrus oils. I used Johnson's Orange Glow wood polish and all sticky stuff has been removed and brolly is undamaged. What a brilliant bunch you ABers are. xxx
