cloudy glassware

despite using a 3 in 1 dishwasher tablet my glassware still gets cloudy. how do i stop it and how do i clean the glasses back up? i have also topped up my dishwasher rinse aid but that didn't stop it either- i live in a soft water area (scotland) so i'm baffled! thanks for all replies

The only way to stop it is don't put them in the dishwasher!! and you cant clean them up again because the dishwasher has damaged the surface of the glass.

Its because of the tablet that they are cloudy. They aren't dirty, they've been etched.

I'm afraid you just have to regard glasses as semi-disposable if you want to put them in the dishwasher. When they look so disgusting that you don't even want to use them in private, never mind for guests, just bin them and buy some new cheap ones. You can never remove the cloudiness/scratching.

If they are permanently cloudy you have no choice but to bin them.

If its only temporary after washing I suggest you check your salt level and rinse aid and don't forget to set the rinse aid control to the hardness of water in your area.

i only ever put the cheapo ones from the likes of matalan or supermarkets in the dishwasher, then it doesn't matter so much if you have to bin them after a while because of the cloudyness.
