Hi I have a apple tree that when the apples come on it they are to high for me to reach the trunk is about 5 ft and the branches start from the top of the trunk I was wondering if I cut it right down to the trunk would it be alright and grow better I wouldn't want to kill it of can anyone help? Thanks dolly

Handy tip for picking out of reach apples-
cut a pop bottle in half, (discard the bottom half) remove the lid, insert a thick garden cane into the neck and secure with strong tape, so you have something that looks like a very long stemmed wine glass without a base! cut a notch into the rim of the "glass". position it so the apple is inside the bottle,with the stem in the notch, give it a twist and the apple should drop into the bottle, try it, it works!
