the fridge part of my frost free freezer is warm but the freezer is still going - can I manage with the fridge like it is until next wednesday which is when the engineer will be calling

I wouldn't think so.

My 3 month Samsung fridge freezer did exactly the same thing. Unlucky for me I wasn't prepared for the long haul and it took them over 3 weeks for them to fix it.

If you really have to then I suppose you can put things like milk and what not in a bucket of cold water. Otherwise you might need to use as much as you can before Wednesday.
