I have paperwork cover the buying and selling of two houses. 1 from 2 years ago and the other 4 years ago. How long should i hold on to this paperwork, or is it ok to shred it now. neither sales or purhcases had any complications.

Ring the Inland Revenue, they will tell you the legal requirement for financial records. It is 7 years for self employed people and I think it is 22 months for employed people. Or you could just ring a solicitor.
