Should there be a limit to new house building?
Politicians say millions of new houses are required to house the expanding immigrant population But when there is talk about building new motorways there is uproar as its suggested vehicles will increase and the roads will soon fill up. The same argument is used when referring to new runways or airports. The general concensus is they are demand led and so must be avoided.
Therefore should we restrict our new housing stock for this reason as they will never reach satisfactory figure?

It puts our purchases UP and our own people arent getting housing entitlement as quickly as immigrants are.
As soon as they arrive they are entitled to an enormous amount of things, including money to send to their kids back home I hear, along with car in order to find work etc (I have first hand knowledge of this).

We're only an island so big by so big. You can guarantee a large proportion of the development will be in England, cutting out Devon and Cornwall. You're talking about a space 300 x 200 miles. Quart in a pint pot. Its not just the houses, its also the space needed for extra infrastructure to accommodate everyone and everything.
Its not just immigration though; people are living to a much older age and also 1 in 3 marriages break up meaning one partner has to move out - usually into a vacant property.

Now the guardians of our heritage, the National Trust, are fully against the idea. With its 3.5 million members that surely has some clout. Although using the brown belt they should concentrate on high density and that means building more flats even the high rise ones. As you say the rich prime SE will bear all the major increase.
Even building new houses won't help first time buyers get on the housing ladder as greedy gits will buy them up to rent out, once again increasing the prices out of the reach of your average worker. Immigrants aren't to blame for everything, greedy Brits owning 5-6 houses are just as guilty for the lack of affordable housing too.
