Does anybody know how much it would roughly cost to put in a normal shower (not electric or power shower)? I am just about to get my bathroom re-tiles and need to put in a shower before it happens but I keep getting ridiculous quotes.

Do you mean the actual shower goods or the workmanship?
I'm not being funny but how longs a piece of string, there are so many factors to consider. best to get 3 plumbers in for a quote.

No I mean to actually install one. I have already bought it.
I bought a curve fronted corner shower, quite a big one, with a coener base. the plumber had to fit the actual shower first which menat chipping into the plaster to bed in the pipes that he had to run from under the bath and thru the floor, (my bathroom is 10ft by 10ft) then he had to run the electrics too, don;t know but think they went under the floor too, then he plastered over the pipes and then fitted the tray and the drasinage bit, then he fitted the tiling sheets behind it, i used those instead of ceramic tiles, then he fitted the cubicle, and used the sealant on it, took him 2 days and he charged 400 i think, oh and he fitted an aluminium vertical tower rail at the same time and changed the bath and basin taps too.

Just to add to what has already been said, when asking for quotes (not an estimate as this can increase) get the plumber to put it in writing as to costs, materials and what will be done and also give a timescale for how long the job will take. Most reputable plumbers will happily do this.
