Radiators

We have GCH radiators and when we moved in (5months ago) we noticed that there is a pipe in the hallway leading seemingly to nowhere, we though nothing of it as we haven't even thought about thatbit of the house yet nd put it down to something to do with the extension that was fitted by the previous owners. However, now it's gettiong colder and I have had the central heating on and noticed that this pipe is getting warm as if it should be attached to a radiator - perhaps the previous owners removed the radiator during the extenstion and then never refitted it? Either way, is it a simple job just to buy a radiator panel ting and connect it to the pipe or should I be contacting a plumber / heating person? Thanks :-)

"a pipe in the hallway leading seemingly to nowhere" - if it is a single pipe, how did you propose to fit a rad? - you need 2 pipes - a feed and a return.

It is probably getting warm because it is connected to the existing system and heat flows down the pipe in both the copper and the water inside it through conduction.

If you (or partner) have never fitted CH before, I don't recommend you start here. You will invariably have to do some pipe cutting and attaching valves to the ends.

Thanks, lol. There are two pipes! I just noticed. One comes down from the ceiling and the other out of the wall.
