dishwasher not draining

the check water light is coming on. ihave cleared the drain screen where there was a trapped item. but my bosch dishwasher wont pump the water out. do i call some one out or should i just buy a new one its a bosch and just over two years old. thanks for your advice. :-)

hi, may be a blocked pump. switch off mains and remove plug. get a bowl and put the discharge hose into the bowl at floor level. should drain water out. remove back of machine, tilt it over and remove the large hose from the pump( circlip to remove ). be ready for a flow of water. you can have a feel round in the pump and see if anything is in there, if not , remove pump top, either screws or clips and see if the impeller turns o.k. and look for foreign bodies. put it back together and test. if still no good and machine is over 3 years old, then throw it out into the garden and get a new one, much cheaper than an engineer.

I have a bosch dishwasher too. I thought I had cleared a blockage in the same way you have - both times it was a matchstick in the filter. Its the first thing I look for now.

Just to add........ I think it was stopping the impellor not bocking the filter on its own. ;)
