5 Answers
My son has a flame retardant boiler suit. It says not to use soap or soap powder to wash it - use suitable detergent. But what do I use?

Hi, on the dylon site, it states use a mild detergent at under 50 degrees. It does say what...if you surf the web, washing seems to reduce the flame retardent ability so the items may need reprofing, usually a spray. Is there anyway you can ask his employer?
At the very least I would say non-bio and maybe something like lux or other similar soap flakes but only guessing.

Normal washing powders, i.e. Persil, Bold, etc. that you would use for doing your washing are not 'soap' powders, but are detergent powders. So I think it's just a warning not to use a soap based product which are recommended for wool or silk, etc.(of which I think Lux is one). Probably the soap will react adversely and affect the chemicals in the flame retardant.
