I had an ensuite made by dividing a bathroom with a stud partition. The shower drains into the bathroom drain. There is an awful smell of bad eggs in the en suite which seems to come from the shower tray. I have used drain cleaner and keep putting bleach down the drain but the smell always comes back. If you put you nose to the shower drain you can feel fresh air blowing up it! When the loo is flushed in the ensuite or the sink emptied the noise echos in the shower drain.
Call another plumber out to check the work,, it sounds as if it has been taken straight into the stack pipe without a trap on the shower tray, get it checked out because it should not smell at all if done correctly. might be something else but that is all I can think of at the moment, hope you get it sorted, good luck, Ray
The other thing it might be is that the last of the water as it drains out of the shower is syphoning out the water that is supposed to remain in the water-trap (the U bend). This is a design fault.
In both situations you end up with a direct air contact to the sewer - hence the smell.
Have you paid the plumber that did this - best in the first instance to get him back?
