Couple of points. It's MUCH cheaper to cook on a gas barbeque. You don't spend nearly as much time waiting for it to warm up, and as soon as you finish, you can turn it off.
If you have the type with lava rock , there is no difference in taste. The taste is caused by dripping juices flaring on the charcoal, and the lava rock gives the same effect. Without the lava rock, there is less smoky flavour, and more flame-grilled taste.
If you want the same effect in your kitchen cooker, make sure the smoke alarm is turned off, and have a large bucket of soapy water to wash walls, ceiling, cupboards etc afterwards!!
