when i put my foot on the brake back light goes out, and how to get light connector out as clip on top but stil carnt get it out. . can you help. thanks

The lamp, (bulb) is faulty so you need to change it and as to getting the clip out I haven't a clue it's been years since I owned an Escort van....

Check the earth connection from the light cluster to the bodywork is not loose or corroded.
