can you recommend a really good washer dryer or does this not exist?

Ive just had a candy washer/dryer for the last 12months it was useless and is now going back to Comet for a refund/exchange. The so called sensor dryer could not sense when my undies were dry and I had to use my oven mitts to get them out of the drum. Not funny they were evaporated to half the size. Also it was a crap washer.

So will probably just get a good washer in exchange but if anyone has a good tale to tell about their washer/dryer id be pleased to hear

I used a Bosch - until it went wrong. Admittedly, it did well until then, but when they DO go wrong, they can cost a lot to repair. Needing a new one very quickly, I bought one from B & Q after seeing an advert in the paper. It was an EasiLogic, which I'd never heard of, and only 1100 rpm - but also a mere �139, so I thought it'd last me until I was able to shop around for a "better" one. That little washing machine (which is a Servis one btw), works like a dream, & we use it 4-5 times a day with no problems. It also comes top in energy efficiency. I use a separate tumble dryer though, as I think they work better than the combined machines.

How much are you willing to spend there are some brilliant ones in the 500 quid plus bracket? Mine is a hotpoint one, and I have no idea how much it was as it was gift (sorry, am useless).

I bought a Hoover washer/dryer a year ago and it's been great. Was only about �350 in the Argos sale. It's got a 29 minute wash option and you can turn the water temp down to cold or 30C - which saves on bills! It also has a great handwash setting.

The dryer is, as with all combined machines, not as good as a separate dryer, but it's better than others I've used on combined machines.

Best of all, it has a 1600 spin, which I paid more for - but it's worth every penny. the washing comes out practically dry, so they dry really quickly. I live in a flat and this is vital because I have to hang my washing up in my bathroom to get it dry!

my wife has to use an oven mitt to handle my undies to put them in the washing machine!! my socks have been trained to make their own way there!!

Dont buy a washerdryer they are useless and so energy wasting. If you must have a washer dryer, check out the Miele one, its just under a grand, but has which's recommendation. They also say its the best washer/dryer around.

Gillianne - I'm presuming it's a question of lack of space - like me. I have had a Hotpoint Ultima Extra (1200 spin speed) for 4 years now, trouble free and efficient. (I hope I'm not putting the kiss of death on it!!)
Prior to that, I had a Hotpoint washer/dryer for 7 years with no probs. but as we have a maintenance contract (new for old) I couldn't say how much the latest one was.
Just one thing worth mentioning, as it was a free replacement I didn't have much say in the model to be replaced. I later found that you can't do a hand-wash then spin it . There is no separate spin only -programme on it.
Otherwise, it's absolutely perfect.
