I have just been given a bunch of cut flowers and there are thousands of tiny fast moving light coloured mites the size of grains of salt falling onto the work top where I have the flowers. I have thrown the flowers out but if the mites have spread around the house will they infest the place or can`t they live away from the plants? Does anyone know?
Thank you.

Don't know if they will spread but spray the room near other plants, with fly spray. Try not to breathe it in ! Leave it and go to work. Then when you get home open the windows to let some fresh air in. Fly spray isn't good to breathe in so imagine what it will do to the pesky mites !! Good luck x

Thanks smurfchops, i`ll try that.
Best thing to do is wipe surface daily to remove mites and any eggs which hatch out .Fly spray will be no use. Dusting is best answer to keep numbers down. Hoovering round about will help too. Best wishes.egrow
