I need some ideas for planting in very dry ground. The area is also under a huge chestnut tree, and only gets the sun for an hour or so in the morning. Does anybody know of any shrubs/plants that will provide colour with attractive foliage, that can tolerate such conditions?

dry shade is probably the very hardest condition to grow plants, theres plenty that grow in the shade or in the dry but not that grow with both. i have a patch of garden the same and ive never got anything to grow there.
you need to buy the plant and shrub expert book and look in there.
