I was sitting in a pub in Edinburgh with some English mates, I was finishing a crossword puzzle, I said " 8 words, castaway on a desert island m --oo-ed" one of the lads said "marooned", I said "pardon"? he said in a loud voice " MAROONED" I said "Cheers, I'll have a pint"

Another time in Germany I told him I was going to watch "the shores", "what shores"? he asked, "another whisky" I said, the guy was as bright as a world war 2 blackout, he fell for it every time ;-))

PS - liked the word list - one notable omission was glaikit, in daily use North of the Border - implies "the lights are on, but there's nobody home" - as in "those glaikit so-and-sos in Westminster" - another phrase in daily use North of the Border.

For a more complete understanding of (Glaswegian) Scots English I recommend 'The Patter' and 'The Patter: Another Blast'. Come complete with social comment, local history and some brilliant "working" examples.
