I haven't got much time on here today to Google properly and give an in depth answer, but I just Googled window tinting and it seems that it is possible to apply some film to the windows to help with privacy and also help with energy bills.

Or a dark neutral tinted film(like sunglasses). However anything you do will reduce the amount of light getting in to the room,so will make it darker. If you then turn on inside lights you will tend to cancel out the obscuring effect of the film!
I have used these guys. At the time I looked they were cheaper by a mile - because they like to do everything over the net.
How about a net curtain!!!!
