Does anyone have one of those latex mattresses that moulds itself to your body? What are the pros & cons & are they ok for bad backs? (Been gardening - everything aches!)

I dont have a latex mattress noddy, but I do have one of those "foam" ones that comes in a roll! Do you know them? They contain no springs and are made up of different layers of this foam type stuff. They come vacuum packed in a roll, and when you open it out, it springs into place. It is very hard to lay on, which is good for bad backs, as you literally feel it pushing into all those sore spots and giving you support. We paid 199 for our double, from a normal bed shop. Might be an idea for you.
Hard beds are supposed to be better for bad backs so maybe you should try Moonheads idea. I'm guessing the latex matress is soft if it molds to your body and maybe not such a good idea?

Thanks you two. My neighbour has decided to go ahead & order one, so I'll let her try it first & if I end up having to go & winch her out of bed I'll know they're too soft!
The most off putting thing is that they are very expensive. we were going to buy one for 1200 but got one for 765 on offer. My husband is the one with back trouble and sleepless nights. I can vouch that he is sleeping better and the aches and pains have lessened. we got our tempur mattress on a 60 day trail basis, I suggest that you go for one where you can do this. we got ours from www.cedeco.co.uk - they are on the internet and no I'm not on commission!! good luck. By the way I myself prefer a harder mattress but the only other choice for me, is to sleep in the spare room!!!I'm getting used to it too.

Thanks gardenia, that's very helpful. They all look so inviting, just done a pile of ironing which hasn't helped at all! The one my neighbour's ordered is obviously a cheaper version, (I thought it should have been more) so I hope she isn't wasting her money.
glad to of been of some help Noddy. It us took long enough to save/decide to then go for it. we've only had ours since 22nd July. Its been designed by NASA for astronauts!!! I was really worried to how I'd adapt to it because I like a harder mattress but like I said I'm adjusting. I also think your weight would make a differance - not being rude! but I weigh a bit and I'm sure it must make a differance to how much the foam moulds around you. Ours has got an unzipable cover on it too.(platic/rubber feeling) I thought with the cover it would make us sweat but it hasn't.
by the way my husband has tried the roll of foam on the mattress - no good for him. he's tried a board under the previous mattress - no avail. tried building it up with blankets and guess what? yep thats right got him nowhere.
