Had the same problem, sambro, until we managed to find a couple of screw-in twirly-shaped energy saving lightbulbs that fitted our cooker hood perfectly and didn't cost much more than the 'normal' ones. They've been in for six months now, cost less to run and we're saving the planet at the same time (allegedly).

Try a higher wattage

If there halogen ones and you handle them without gloves/cloth the oils in your fingers will leave residue on them and burn them out very quickly.
