5 Answers
I am due to start work at Dewsbury and district hospital in august and was wondering where to look for a place to live as i'm not from the area. anyone got any tips? i dont mind a small commute.
just not sure if dewsbury is the way to go or another town nearby or even live in leeds? any insider info on the area and surrounding areas would be much appreciated.

Personally i would be looking around Wakefield a little bit closer to Dewsbury than Leeds which is now a very over-crowded place with high living costs. Wakefield is a lovely place to live. I was brought up in Leeds and am Leeds through and through but do not like now where it is going...Yet here in Wakefield just 5 miles away I am just 6 miles away from Leeds, Dewsbury & Castleford but without the hustle n bustle. But then again you may like that. And Dewsbury itself is not a good place to live; in my opinion anyway... ( just know i am now going to get slated by some Dewsbury residents ) sorry folks (quickly goes and hides under the bed )
Hi,
I live near Dewsbury and my sister is currently living in Dewsbury (her house is up for sale) its not a bad area that she lives in but also not the best of areas, they have never had any trouble. I would recommend looking at Cleckheaton, Mirfield, Liversedge, nice places, some nice houses and not too expensive. I would avoid Heckmondwike, although I have never lived there I have heard not so nice things about it, although saying that bad things were said about the place I grew up in but it wasn't all that bad. The best thing I think is for you to have a drive around the area, you will get a feel for places and what they are like. Good luck!
