I want to ask my family to get me a tree for my 40th later this year and love cherry blossom. Can you buy these trees to stay in a large container to grow no higher than 5 to 6ft..Also what size container am I going to need?We live in the North with a south facing garden and are prone to frost so am also hoping they are fairly hardy. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for such a fast reply weeal,I tried Google but couldn't make head nor tail of the sites I found, could do with an expert as I don't want to get the wrong thing and trees seem to be quite expensive. Thanks for looking for me!
the best thing to do is to go to a Nursery where the trees are grown, there should be one near you, they will give all the advice you need and can supply trees in various sizes to suit, and at least they are locally grown so they will be suited to the climate
i never buy mail order plants

We have one in our front drive and everyday there's a carpet of pink flowers which get trodden through the house. The tree in blossom is beautiful, but a real pain when the petals fall.
