Painting a stained wood door
We have a wooden door that at some time has been stained and was also an exterior door, brought inside by means of an extension. We wish to paint it white but have been advised that it would be better for the wood to leave it stained. Is there any truth to this?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.sand it, prime it, undercoat it and paint it. no need to wait. it's personal choice as to whether you leave it stained or paint it, no idea where 'better for the wood' advice is coming from. treat it as you would any door that you wish to paint, the fact that it was once an external door and is stained is totally irrelevant.
