Pressure washers
3 Answers
Morning all,
Has anyone got any advice on which make and model of pressure washer is recommended for cleaning a concrete imprinted patio.
My patio is full of grooves and indented patterns which the collect dirt etc. How does a pressure washer remove the dirt and where does it go? Do I need to have a patio cleaning attachment or just use a lance. General product discriptions are very vague (bit like me!)
Thanks for your help.

Some of the better pressure washers on the market come from a company called KARCHER - Sold in B&Q and ARGOS. For cleaning patios you may find its easier if you use a patio cleaning attachment which is curcular and has some internal brushes that spin round under water pressure, this attachment lies flat on the ground, and of course some really strong patio cleaning detergent, most machines have an internal tank that you can put the detergent in, DONT wash your car after using patio cleaner in your machine, make sure you flush it out completly.
You can of course use the lance that comes with the machine, most have a vario lance that allows you to vary the spray jet, but be prepared for some time consuming and laborious work.
The Dirt just gets blasted around, so ensure you continue to sweep the collected dirt from the areas you clean every so often.
If your pation is Block paved, try not to blast too much in the joints,as this will push the sand bonding out.
Blow away from your doors and windows as dirt will if your using a lance go everywhere !.
We always wear wellies, and never point the lance near your eyes or bare hands - use a circuit breaker plug on all garden equipment powered by mains voltage.
An example is the KARCHER K339m + T100 at 159.99 from Argos comes which comes with a "T-Racer" patio cleaning attachment.
If your going for ANY washer ask if you can fit a patio cleaning attachment on it.
All the best.
