I would like to remove the artex from my walls. Can somebody advise me on the way this should be done. I dont know the condition of the wall behind the Artex but the house is only about 25years old so it should be quite solid. Is there some liquid I can apply before using a stripper or will it chip off better while the wall is dry.
Mr Aprilis used X-Tex in our bathroom and it works like a dream. It's flipping expensive but well worth the money. I was amazed at how easily the artex came off. You just paint it on and leave it for the recommended amount of time. It softens the artex and it just scrapes off like wet plaster. Brilliant stuff, I couldn't recommend it highly enough.
Solly, it all depends on whether you want to do it the inexpensive way and spend weeks removing it, or spend the cash and have a room done in about a day!
I can guarantee that once you have used X-Tex, you'll never attempt to remove artex any other way. You only have to leave the stuff on for about an hour and it's ready to scrape off with very little effort. It's safe and effective....and they ought to start paying me bl00dy commission!
Many thanks for all of your answers and help.
I have noted all your comments and decided that a through lounge is a job for the professionals !! but will keep this information in mind when it comes to a small room like the w.c. and just might have a go myself.
Once again thank you all
