I have a Banana Republic silk vest that has recently begun to stink of fish. This has happened to one of my other Banana tops. Can anyone tell me why Banana tops wreak of fish and how to get the smell out? I've washed both repeatedly and nothing seems to work.

ive cleaned peoples rugs before and they tend to smell of urine, when i explain that in places like morocco they use goats pee to set the color they dont believe me,but this only happens when you apply cleaning fluid.but a banana republic vest ???smells a bit fishy to me.

I was thinking it was something to do with the dye, but I hope they don't use dead fish to set their dyes...I was just told that sometimes Silk tends this way--so I'll ammend my question to ask why silk starts smelling after time? And Guava, please don't waste my time.
you could try putting some baking soda in with the wash, see if that gets rid of the smell. I've never had that problem with silk before.
