help please!!!! my garden is in an awful state, it has gone patchy and the grass looks like it is dieing, we had greenthumb out ove a mth ago to kill the weeds and sort it out but to be honest it is worse. before it was some weeds and patchiness but still fairly green but now the patchyness is yellow strawlike. i know its been very hot but we have been watering the garden every evening and its not making much difference. any suggestions what i can do???? we do have 2 young children and cats but the cats never use the garden as a loo and the grass has always been hardwearing enough to withstand the kids pounding over it thanks in advance

I`ve never heard of Greenthumb before, is it a granular weed&feed or liquid? Did you follow the instructions to the letter? It sounds like you over did it and the grass will take time to recover, if not wait until September and put down more grass seed, it`s too late now to do much about it.

hi thanks for advice but greenthumb are a national company that specialise in lawn care and repair.
Is this in England? If so I must get out more.

If the yellow patches coincide with the site of the weeds you are trying to eradicate, it would seem that the treatment is working although I do wonder if the right treatment was used as the grass should be flourishing to offset the toxic effects of the weedkiller So like most cosmetic treatments it will look worse before it gets better.I assume that you have told the company about the situation for they at the very least should explain to you the process and if it still stays "pear-shaped" or gets worse you can then go back and get them to put it right.
a bit late I know. If all this happened after Green Thumb had been involved, get them back and tell them to sort it out, at their expense. They are supposed to make it better, nit worse.
