Dulux PaintPod - refill?

Can you refil the Dulux PaintPod pods with normal emaltion paint? I find paying �30 per tub a little expensive when normal paint costs much less than that.

Also, how much are the hoses and how large are they? Ie can i paint a cealing 12 feet up with one of those?

Sorry, can't answer your questions, but have you actually bought one of these? If not too late, then don't - it's a short term gimmick that will go the same way as the Black and Decker paintmate (similar product) that is likely disapear within a year or so at the most, leaving you with a useless "tool" for which you can't get spares or supplies.

You'll be far better of the old fashioned way, with ordinary paint, brushes, rollers, and taking time

This did not get a very good write up in the Which magazine, the verdict reads "innovative but expensive, it should save time but you will still need to do some roller cleaning" It also says that the pump tube needs replacing after every 50 litres of paint. Hope this helps.

I work at a diy store where they sell the 'paint pod' and you can only use the paint pod paint cos is made with a different formulation than the normal dulux paint. I think that it would clog up your machine so I would't recomend it.

thanks - i decided on a roller and scuttle to do the job instead of this fad. Like said, it will be like the paintmate

I have bought one, and I disagree with previous posters. OK, it is by no means a life-changing experiencing using this, but as far as I'm concerned, it's paid for itself already (2 rooms). The time saved in not having to dip your roller every time is a big plus, and it gives a very good finish (no annoying lines from the roller edge). Cleaning is certainly no quicker than a regular roller & tray though. The refills are expensive, and I've considered (but decided against) refilling with regular paint, but I have "done the math" and reckon it's worth it.
