Glasspaper to remove surface marks. Then white spirit to remove dust and any remaining grease.

thanx buildersmate. do u get this in places like b and q? is got juice spilt on it from my kids will it get it off?
Yes - any of these DIY places. Glasspaper comes in different grades - usually abbreviated to coarse, medium and fine. Buy medium and fine and start with medium, then go onto fine.
The amount of rubbing you will have to do depends on the extent of the staining produced by the juice - what you are doing to rubbing off the dirty top surface of the wood leaving the clean new wood underneath exposed
