I planted garlic last autumn. When do I harvest it, do I need to dry it, how to store etc. Dug up one tonight, smells delicious, but small and white. Any advice gratefully received

Leave until the stems begin to turn yellow and topple over. Then lift and spread out in the sun to dry on an area of concrete or a wire or plastic mesh. When dried, store in net bags- of the type onions are sold in - or tie up in bunches wiyh string and keep in any dry, cool place.
We store our dried bulbs in the leg of an old pair of tights hung up in the garage but don't hang them anywhere damp or they will soon start to rot.
