Hi i have an efco strimmer and I want to change the bump head on it for a new one.Unfortunately I cant get the old one off, whichever way I turn the head on the shaft after securing the shaft to stop it from moving.Should I be turning the head clockwise or anti clockwise to remove the head thanks in advance

Don't know this model, but its almost certainly a left hand thread and will need turning clockwise to undo.Is there some way you can give it a sharp tap in a clockwise direction, this often works when a steady twist fails
A drop of penetrating oil or diesel oil alowed to soak into the thread for several minutes will also help, then unsrew anti-clockwise.
