Shed Shambles
Ok, so a member of my family has just recently put a shed up for us... however, he thinks that we don't need to build a base for it... he's determined that the wood has been treated, so it doesn't need a base.
Now, I've searched all over the internet, and all of the sites say that bases ARE needed. Whether it be wooden planks, concrete slabs, or a concrete floor.
Are there any circumstances where the shed DOESN'T need a base? Because at the moment this is just a floating shed on top of soil.
Can anyone offer any advice? Thank you in advance.

It is just short-cutting the job for no good reason.
The purpose of the base is to provide support. Dwellings used to be built on earth 200 years ago - before man knew any better. OK, so the loading isn't as much, but the structure will go all twisted if the earth is a bit soft in one area.
Perhaps your relative believes he is still in the middle-ages

He is presumably thinking that the base is there to protect the wood from rotting, so if the wood won't rot, then a base isn't needed. He could be right. But what abut the other things a base does? Like keeping out rodents? Like giving a level area to put shelving etc on? Like being easier to sweep out if it's concrete? The bottom line is,it's your shed, if you want a base, for whatever reason, even if you're wrong! you get one.
Good luck.
Good luck.
