How much is reasonable for hedge trimming?

Hi . We've just been quoted �200 pounds to get our hedges trimmed and wondered if those with experience would consider that a reasonable price or not. There are a lot of hedges - probably round about 100 metres - and they are pretty high and bushy, plus a short strip of leylandi. Price does include clearing and removal of trimmings. Seems high to me but maybe is reasonable for the work involved. Would appreciate any opinions. TIA.

how much money do you want for a days wages?, as a self employed person, not paye and all the risks that involves
next employ a workmate and be responsible for them
now buy and run a transit van with a machine that cuts up the hedge bits
dont forget your insurances
i paid �230 for two guys to cut my hedges, all done in a day, money well spent, not cheap but i felt it was very good value and my hedges were not half as long as yours

Hard to say without seeing just how high etc. If they've been allowed to get out of hand it's probably a fair price.
(Little & often is the best way with hedges, you don't get stung for the price of removal & disposal!)

When I'm unsure how much a big job should cost I get 3 or 4 quotes.

Blimey.....you have a cheap quote.....they must be mad to do all that work for �200 (another 0....would be about right).

If they do the work.....u should offer a mighty tip!

"Pretty high and bushy" and "around 100 metres" - sounds cheap to me. Make sure you've some decent biscuits to go with the tea.

I'd also make sure they intend to take away all the cuttings for that price! It will probably cost them to dispose of it legally??
