I wonder if any of the readers agree with me that the fuel allowance which is paid should be paid directly to the electricity supplier and not to the pensioner or whoever is entitled to it. This way the money really goes towards the fuel bills and not towards anything else what they might think they want to spend it on. As the money is paid by cheque it is so easy to use it for other things then what it is intended for.
Please do not fly up in a rage over this letter, am a pensioner myself and I would have no objection if it was paid straight towards my fuel bill.

I am also a pensioner,
My fuel bills are paid by direct debit,
But if I decide, and I often do, to go to warmer climes during the winter months, then I won't be using my heating as much, but I should not be penalised for that Ie have my fuel allowance stopped.
Many pensioners around here spend time with their younger families through the winter months, and Maybe use that allowance to contribute towards their upkeep,
It's a personall choice I think.
And a lot of pensioners who are entitled to it, live abroad anyway , so that wouldn't work.

I am a pensioner and don't want to be treated as a halfwit - I am a responsible adult.
exactly my point ethel
I don't want my heating allowance going towards keeping my warm during the harsh winter months, I will just put on an extra cardi. I'm off to the pub with my dosh and then into the Co Op for 20 B & H.
i dont understand why pensioners who go abroad for the winter need a winter fuel allowance any way!
it just seems mad to me logic that you can be abroad and still get it. Also i think it would be better based on need rather than age.

but then i'm just bitter because i am not in a "family" therefore no politician wants my vote or bribes me for it!
