Hot Pot Spuds. Please help.

When making a hotpot and you have sliced potatoes instead of mash on top of the stew, do I part boil the spuds first, fully boil the spuds first or slice them raw.

Will somebody please help. The stew has been on a slow roast for 8 hrs and its time for the spuds.
I always slice them pretty thin and put them on raw

Par boil I would guess and then give them time to complete cooking and crisp up in the oven.

That's how I'd do it anyway.

Sorry put the spuds on raw as they will
cook with the meat ..nice with grated
cheese on the top as an extra but a last
5 mins thing ..

I have just come in from work and have never used a slow cooker before.
I never parboil my potatoes when making a hotpot, and the potatoes always cook okay.
Go with Pixi, I've never had to make hot pot... That's just how I would do it if I was forced to.

I slice them and put them on raw , they will cook nicely:-)
Add cheese though, that sounds nice.

You're welcome :) Ive never left the skins on in hotpot but we leave them on most other stuff we make

In two minds about cheese.

It is lamb and cheese and lamb seems a little mismatched. Beef, yes but lamb. Mmmmm decisions.
