Reimbursement from landlord

When I was living in a rented house I paid for some emergency repairs to the boiler which wasnt working. This amounted to several hundred pounds and was a year ago now. The landlord is refusing to reimburse me and having run out of excuses is just now ignorning me - I left the property 6 months ago.
Legally, what are my options for pursuing the money? The small claims court seems geared towards business to business (or am I missing something?).
Please help - I could really do with the money

Don't forget - if it is a gas boiler your landlord is under a legal obligation to have it serviced once a year and must obtain a certificate to that effect, and ensure it is operating safely. If this has not been done report him to the local authority (sorry - I don't knkw which department).
