Name off mortgage. and bills.
4 Answers
i split with my partner 11 months ago and she has continued to live in the house and pay the mortgage(mortgage in joint name)/gas/electric etc,
even though i dont have access to the house or have any possesions in there i have continued to pay for the council tax and home insurance. i cant get my name off the mortgage and now i want to stop paying the council tax, she says i cant stop because legally the house is still 50/50 even though i havent been there for 11 months she says if i stop the council tax she will force me to pay half the mortgage, is this legally possible because i am now very worried.

Can get you a bad credit rating though
Council tax is more complex. There is a pecking order for paying it and both occupiers and owners are liable - but I'm not sure in which order.

Well for a start she should only be paying single person occupancy. I would be inclined to take advice, but my view is stop paying the council tax (I'd be inclined to keep the insurance up for now). If she forces you to pay half the mortgage, you just charge her an occupation rent for YOUR half of the property. The mortgage payments/rent will very often cancel each other out.
