Loads of other places online as well, and my local lighting shop sells them too

Just google or ask for dimmable energy saving bulbs
try ebay,
you can buy just about anything on that site.
Because of the way they work (basically a coiled flourescent tube) low energy bulbs are difficult to dim succesfully. You have to buy those specifically designed to do so and they ARE much more expensive right now (8-15 each!) as there are very few on the market.

For one of the most popular brands, see here;
http://www.litebulbs.co.uk/category/86/megaman -dimming-energy-saving-bulbs.aspx?gclid=CNOxjL S0kJYCFQ1TEAodAmdlEg

they start there at 7.25 +VAT!!

The price will come down eventually but for now only replace them when you have to, as and when your normal ones go.

thanks all
as i suspected a big rip off,
seen 3 for 28 on ebay +PnP

i will leave my money in the bank - as they need it more,
You could buy the low energy lamp you require but instead of getting an 11 watt get a 5, 7, or 9 watt lamp which will be not as bright as a higher wattage thus not needing a dimmer switch....
