We are currently revamping our pond and the surrounding area. I would like to create a very lush mainly evergreen planting scheme around the pond with the odd splashes of colour, but the problem is the pond is situated in a very sunny position so the moist and shade loving plants might not tolerate the position. Can anyone recommend a few plants that would be happy in this area. I would like some of a creeping variety to help soften the rock edges etc.
Hi,as a gardener, I manage a string of ponds that is very dry around the perimeter due to large trees nearby, and I have used catmint to disguise the edges, together with thyme, the small creeping euphorbia cyparissias(not evergreen, but good ground cover for the rest of the year), and also euphorbia robbiae and phlomis russelliana (big furry green leaves all year round). Hope this helps!
