Thank you andy-hughes and gina32, you have given something to try hollytree
That anon caller reject is a total rip off and waste of time.

Many many companies now use phone numbers to get round it, but if you call that number you get a message: This phone is never answered.
Safestyle is one company that does this. GRRRR
You can also register yourself with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) for free.

http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps/

This is a register of people who DONT want to be phoned up by people selling you things, and any UK company doing phone sellling should abide by the list.

When we first registered orur nuicance calls dropped completely.

The only calls we get nowadays are from foreign call centres who probably dont abide by our rules.
And withheld numbers from abroad DO get through.
While we are on the subject of nuisence calls, I got my most annoying call ever the other day.

It was a Saturday morning and the phone rang at about 9 a.m.

I picked up the phone, and before I could say anything an automated female voice (with an annoying american nasal whine) said "Sorry that is an invalid response"

I was furious as I had not said or done anything and SHE has the nerve to say I had done an invalid response.

I hung up in anger, but part of me wished I had hung on to find out which company it was so I could complain about them.
BT suggested to us a box which answers the calls for you and requests that the caller presses 5 to be connected. Sometimes the cure is worse than the problem !!
keep a shrill whistle by the phone, check it's not your frail aunt Gladys and then give them a good blast!
We signed up to the Telephone Preference Service a couple of years ago and it's brilliant. We get the very occasional call, but all I do is ask them where they got our number from as we have signed up to the TPS, and I get an apology and they say they will remove our number from their list. Fantastic service.
