Grubby Marks on Cream Carpet

I moved into a new flat recently and there are some grubby marks on the dark crem (wth small brown specs) carpet.

Anyone got any good tips to remove them without making it look worse (ie making the rest of the carpet around it look grubbier) or have any tips on where and how much it would cost to hire a decent carpet cleaner.

I spot clean with vanish carpet mousse. does not leave pale rings but then I suppose that depends on how grubby the rest of the carpet is.!!

It might be worth hiring a carpet cleaner and doing the whole lot...

Hmmmm, I like that idea :)
A good carpet or rug cleaner is sparkling water especially Perrier.
have you tried cider viniger that works on mine....
