Vax carpet cleaning solution

I have a Vax carpet cleaner which came with some Vax AAA carpet cleaning solution. The bottle has nearly run out now and the solution is quite expensive from the Vax website. Would it be ok to use any other carpet cleaning solution in the machine?
I know Vax would tell me to use theirs only, but does it really matter?

I've used 1001 carpet cleaning solution in my Vax machine among others with good results. You can get it in the �1 shop. Just ensure the bottle says "for machines only" as the bottle is almost identical to the one for removing stains with a damp cloth

I think Argos sell the Vax solution, it may be cheaper there.
