why bother !

I see the first question from the Northern Echo Xmas Quiz has hit the screen. It only came out on Saturday and it is not due in for a month, yet Rolo44 is already stuck and submitting blocks of questions. How stuck can you be after 3 days ? The prize money is only 250 for 300 questions and a months work ;therefore money is not a great motivation, so that leaves the sense of achievement , but what sense of achievement could anyone have, if someone else has done all the work for you.
Try getting off your backside and going to the library and bookshops and having a look at dustjackets/covers. They are the things that are used to protect those things called BOOKS, and they usually contain photographs
of the authors.Try newspaper supplements ! Try something ! Try anything !
It's one thing to ask a couple of questions at the very end when you have got all but the last few answers and have exhausted all avenues, and I have done that myself in desperation, but its another thing to submit blocks of questions before the quiz has got going. Then to add insult to injury you tell everyone not to give any other answers away ! Amazing.
I accept everyone can ask whatever they want, its an open forum, but bearing in mind what happened last year when the quiz was reduced to a farce on these pages, I would ask contributors not to respond to blocks and blocks of questions from people who are not prepared to help themselves.
As I asked at the start why do you want to do the quiz.

No best answer has yet been selected by ON THE ROAD. Once a best answer has been selected, it will be shown here.
For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.this goes on in many sections for many different reasons.. questions which could be answered with a little bit of research.
I have to say, the questions in this section fascinate me.. not that I can answer them! but where is the sense of achievement in getting others to do your crossword/quiz for you? bizarre!

How can it be a sense of achievement to finish the quiz early if the answers are not your own?
I agree with asking the final few questions on which you are truly stuck with, but the reward comes from knowing that you yourself have searched for the answers.
It also improves your 'brain power'
Maybe this Rolo hasn't got a complete brain?

I agree too. Although it is nice to have people say thanks for your efforts, they could really have made the effort themselves and felt even better.
Baitress and I both just answered a question at the same time. It took me a couple of seconds to find the answer, and I bet it took Baitress the same.
I would only be asking for answers if I were really, I mean REALLY stuck.

This farce happens with every quiz, whether small charity ones or larger prize competitions.
There seems to be a primary urge to complete the quiz NOW !! rather than wait until all avenues can be explored.
It has been argued that not everyone has access to the internet but then the questions are posted on the internet - strange!
You tend to find the same names cropping up all the time too - whether they are lazy or not, I couldn't possibly comment !
I agree with the last sentiment - if you aren't going to try - WHY BOTHER?
Good quizzing to everyone in 2009!

I have already said this previously, but what really annoys me is those people who ask for the complete answer to two question for the Where Was I? competition from the Sunday Times Travel Section, then send it in as though it were all their own work. Asking for hints or a clue for an odd clue from a crossword is one thing but asking for a competition's complete answer or blocks of answers is not fair on those who have taken the trouble to at least try for themselves. Like others have said it is a sense of achievement when you work something out for yourself and only as a last resort would I ask for help on an odd question.
I agree with ON THE ROAD that every PRIZE Quiz is ruined by ABers. It used to be the Fun Trivia Site.
I'm reduced to entering just one quiz per month which states that we should NOT use this or other forum sites but still entrants do ask.
Quizmail won't have prize money from January. I bet that'll be goodbye to a few regulars that previously asked something every month.
Just because the AB rules day 'ask anything' isn't a licence to cheat and anyway it cuts the chances of winning.

Morning ON THE ROAD. While I agree that a couple of days is a little too soon, there are different levels of quizzers. The people who maybe need help after a couple of days might not be as attuned as you undoubtedly are to doing quizzes. I personally would never ask one of the questions on here, but then again I never seem to find my name among the winners.
What do you think about General Knowledge returning instead of Current Affairs??

I have started something here......!
To clarify my posistion a little further, I enjoy this site and I am not complaining about it at all. I said previously that I use it myself.
The point I thought I was getting at, is what does anyone get out of doing any quiz if they don't do much, if any of it, themselves. In this quiz the prize money isn't very much, for a hell of a lot of work . So that is not a great motivating factor, then as I said previously that leaves the achievement factor, but if you know you have asked other people most of the questions where is the sense of satisfaction. It's as simple as that. Perhaps it's just the bragging rights
I am pleasantly suprised that most people who have responded seem to agree, but I would say to squarebear that I have not missed the point of the site at all. I think the whole concept of the site is excellent and I learn a lot from it (as well as quiz answers) and hopefully help other people where I can. I did acknowledge this fact in my previous submission .... that is the whole point of the site.
But what does concern me is that you would seem from your comment to deny my right to express an opinion by suggesting if I don't like it I should go elsewhere on the net. Democracy according to squarebear !
It would be easy for me to just sit back and say nothing and copy all the answers myself . I sometimes wonder if people realise that we can all see the answers. I am not on some moral crusade, but last year all 300 questions were posted in blocks on this site which was crazy.
Dr.pop I don't yet know how I feel about the general knowledge I'll wait till I' ve had a go at them.
Finally, I would like people to know that this quiz has been this hard ,if not harder, for nearly 25 years ... can you imagine how difficult it was to complete before the internet ?
I would suggest that all those people who kindly answer a lot of the questions on
