Condensation & fitted wardrobes

We get condensation in the bedroom on a wall where we would like to fit wardrobes.

If we were to line the wall with Thermal Insulation Foil and then fix the wardrobes would that fix the problem as there would be a barrier between the cold of the wall and the warm heated air? or would we just get damp wardrobes?

....ventilation MM.........that's what you need.......................wardrobe doors should be cut a little short of the floor if poss............or fit a vent in them.
To create a flow of air - cut a hole or holes in the ceiling inside the wardrobe and fit louvre vents (assuming you're upstairs).
You don't need a huge flow.............just a trickle. :o)))

Thanks builder, but at the moment we have ventilation (electric thingy in the ceiling that's supposed to 'cure' condensation throughout the bungalow), and we still get the condensation on this particular wall. We also have a 'trickle vent' in the window that we keep open. We have to use a dehumidifier in that room every morning.

ok MM.............condensation and mould always search out the coldest spot to settle on..............................cavity wall insulation and plenty of loft insulation are the usual remedies.............:o)

Yeah, done that. That's why we thought maybe the foil barrier would do it but it's a lot of expense to find that we just have soggy wardrobes! lol

..........well Madders................you've got mechanical ventilation, cavity wall insulation, and loft insulation............................and still you get condensation on a blank wall....................

I'd love to see exactly what your electric thingy is, and to where it extracts the vapour............you've done every thing else :o)

LOL sorry, the 'electric thingy' is fitted in the loft with a vent into the ceiling in the kitchen and is supposed to circulate air throughout the bungalow and 'cure' condensation problems.
We only get the damp when we turn the central heating on and have done the 'fix a piece of glass to the wall' test and the damp was on the room side not on the wall side so it is condensation. We had decided that we would just have to live with it but really do need further wardrobes........... hence the original question.
