I need to move a small upright piano. Any hints and tips? Specifically, is it OK to lay it flat on its back rather than transporting upright? Many thanks.

The tuning will be out unless it stays upright
Inspect the piano carefully ...you will probably find you can take the fascia off and the keyboard cover ( generally held on with hook and eye closures) this makes it lighter to move. We move ours on a board on castors( Homemade similar to skateboard) as the old wheels on piano stick. We were told to keep upright if poss but it nearly always needs tuning after being moved.
That didn't work ...sorry
ok follow that link and put lorry piano into search It's the 2nd article down
