I have heard of anyone suffering from burst pipes in over 40 years - it was common when I was younger and everyone had outside toilets, but plumbing is better these days and pipes are mostly in well heated houses.
But then I can afford to pay if something does go wrong.

Hi Paul,
We have the usual buildings and contents and it covers inside plus the usual rebuild of house etc. It does not cover outside drains/pipes on the property.
So we also took outside water drainage insurance and thank god we did!!!!!
The outside drain collapsed (we have a very old house) and the buildings/contents didn't cover it and it was on our land. The cost was more than we would have wanted to pay (quite a few thousand) and since we are insured (15 pm) with Southern we used it.
Bit like playing the dice really. A gamble worth taking???
