the way istarted was to get a childrens candle making set which is not very expensive. this gives yo all the instructions and you can have making a few simple ones before deciding to go for it in as big way. the procedure is basically the same its just the molds that change. beaded wax can be bought from most craftshops. hope this was helpful
It's not tricky

Get your wax (either from a craft shop, or old candles) and your wick (again craft shop... though normal string can work too (not nylon or synthetic though))

When I've done it I used to tie a small washer to the end of the wick and then use something to suspend it across the mold in the centre so the washer was just touching the base

melt the wax by putting it in a container and then placing that in a saucepan of water on the hob, once melted pour slowly into the mold and leave to set. remove from mold and you have a candle.

Wax crayons are very good to melt into the mixture for colour. I found a camping pan was just the right size for melting wax. Great fun, I did it for years.
If you've come across the ''...for Dummies'' series of books, there's actually one on ''Candle and Soap Making''. Saw it in Borders Books the other day.
