Mortise and tenon

If your tenon is a snug, but not a tight fit (you may snigger, but not sneer, please), would you use a nornal PVA wood glue, or something with a bit more body? Like Araldite, maybe.
The timber is seasoned oak.

Snug fit or not I use pva glue as a touch of the belt and braces system!

Polyurethane glue is used a lot now Aqua - it foams and expands as it works - I use it a lot - recently for an oak staircase

yes as the builder says polyurethane and it is aqua water proof you need to assemble quickly though.
Cascamite is another good one also water proof.

I've sometimes cheated by inserting a suitable thickness of hand-plane shaving to get a tight fit when glueing the joint.
