I see why you're nic is buildersmate...

Not my dog but it is my lawn. Tried "Cata-pult" repellant but not effective.

Anybody out there tried those ultrasonic ones? Do they work?
Yeah, they work ok. The only trouble is, if anyone has very sensitive hearing they will hear a high pitch tone which can be very aggravating. I put one in my garden and it worked very well until somebody decided to smash it up into little bits, and that was that. 29.99 gone.

Thanks Carlton, worth knowing
alavahalf: You think that dogs can read do you? Go av_de_uvver_half Chavvie...
Darren: Fence is too expensive as are laser-guided gun turrets. I'm not spending hundreds on a fence for one chocolate brown labrador (the dog in question). If I get the chance I think I'll just follow it, find out where it lives and do to its owner's lawn what it's doing to mine...
John:

I'm a dog owner but these kind of stories really annoy me! Not having a go at you, but at whoever the owns the dog sh*tting on your lawn.

There's no obvious solution but to either find out who owns the mutt yourself, or contact your local dog warden and try to get them to do it.

If by chance you see the mutt on your property, perhaps you could if poss get a hold of it, labs are known to be docile, put it in your garage or wherever and contact the dog warden to come and collect it as a stray? That way, you wouldn't have to come into direct contact with its owner and the pr*t may just get the message, if you follow me?
I thought that in the UK. all dogs had to wear an ID collar. If not it can be regarded as a stray!!

If anyone happens to still be following this thread, I bought an ultrasonic dog deterrent and put it up in the front garden. The first time my dog activated it, it frightened the bejaysus out of him. After that - nothing but I just put that down to the fact he was getting accustomed to it.

It seemed to work for weeks but then I saw the offending pooch digging up the lawn again with the ultrasonic clicking away merrily and having no affect on the animal whatsoever.

Conclusion: They don't work so save your money. And they use a lot of batteries.

I took it back and got a refund. Eventually spotted the dog with its owner and had a word. She said her boyfriend had been letting it out while she was away and it wouldn't happen again. This weekend, the dog's back on the lawn so I got him with the hose pipe. Not seen it since so, hopefully, that's the end of this saga.
